Sierra Nevada is going to do their year-long anniversary celebration in 2010 right, expanding the party to include other early-day craft beer pioneers, including the very elusive Jack McAuliffe, founder of the legendary New Albion Brewery. The co-celebrants also include Anchor’s Fritz Maytag (of course), writer Fred Eckhardt and homebrewing guru Charlie Papazian, an all-star group if there ever was one.
The full story is here, right where it should be.

The elusive Jack McAuliffe is now living in San Antonio, Texas, but don’t tell him I told you! Cathy (his sister)
Your secret is safe with me.
Did you know he was in a really, really, really bad accident last…March, I think?
I did indeed and followed the story closely. How is he these days?
He’s doing amazingly well…very chipper and upbeat. He doesn’t have the use of his left arm, but he’s adapting…he may end up with a robotic arm, and since he’s really into robotics of all kinds, that’s actually very appealing to him, I think. His daughter lives in Cleveland; she’s in touch with a guy who’s building a new brewpub, so we might go there this summer so they can brew a special Jack McAuliffe brew. (We didn’t know he had a daughter until she was 38!) He’s living with our sister, Margarita, in San Antonio.
Fascinating story. Do you mind if I call attention to this thread in a post so people who remember and wonder about Jack will have an update? They might miss it here in the Comments.
Sure!
I mean, sure I don’t mind!
