The Big March Beer Weekend Lives On.
Philly Beer Week might have picked up and headed for warmer pastures (this June) but the big beer weekend which brightens our lives every March will still be happening at the University of Pennsylvania Museum.
I believe I have already mentioned here, and should have if I didn’t, that the long-running Michael Jackson Tutored Beer Tasting will continue, with Randy Mosher, the author of the excellent new book, Tasting Beer, conducting three tutored one-hour sessions followed by a two-hour open tasting in the Rotunda. Same setup as before, the date is March 13. This is the 20th year for the event and it’s good to see it surviving. MJ would be pleased…albeit perhaps perplexed by the fact that I can find no more information than the above online.
The next day, March 14, The Brewer’s Plate, now it its sixth year, moves to the Museum for the first time. Some info, but not nearly enough—i.e., no brewery or restaurant names—is available online.
These are both great events. You would think that the people promoting them would make it easier for those of us who want to support them by getting the word out to do so. Both are, and have been, listed on the Beer Yard Calendar. Check there for future updates, if any.
I also received vauge notice of a Craft Beer Tour that will be happening on March 13th which involves bars such as Kite and Key, The Institute, Jose Pistolas, Devils Den… seems to be in response to the Erin Express and thier tour of the Irish bars.

Not much more info and still nothing on the Penn Museum site.
