…of Standard Tap’s William Reed delivering the Philly Beer Week Hammer of Glory across the street to Foodery Northern Liberties on Friday afternoon via zip line.
It is, quite simply, a photo that needs must be seen.
By everybody.
So I stole it.
There are 24 more quite good photos where this one came from, a Picasa Web Album linked from Bryan Kolesar’s Day One PBW Round-up at The Brew Lounge.
The pix were taken by his wife Patty, establishing without question that she is the photographer of that operation as well as the brains. I urge you to go check them out and to read Bryan’s post so that maybe he will not come whack me upside the head.
Seriously, it’s a great photo and I wanted to give it more exposure, so I went all gangsta on it (Bryan, if this strikes you as unacceptable usage, just let me know and I’ll take it down and go with a simple link).
As for the rest of you, especially those on The Ruch Spam List, note that the first few photos in the album feature “the ladies of Delilah’s Den” so you might see some familiar…um, faces.
Also, William Reed remains the coolest guy in Philly beer.

William Reed is, indeed, the coolest guy in Philly – and a true hero. On Friday night at Opening Tap, we discovered that everyone had forgotten to order a keg from Victory. After many anxious moments and a huge hand from Tracy Mulligan, a half was located at Standard Tap. William hefted the barrel into a cab, directed it down to the Independence Visitor Center and raced it into the center while the pipe and drum band was performing outside. And we all drank it down while watching the Flyers on the 15-foot screen. Another great example of the fellowship of Philly’s beer community.
I remember way back in the ’90s, when it was all new, somebody showing up for a beer fest without a tap and Tom Kehoe jumped in his car, drove to Yards, and came back with one for them. It was astonishing then, almost seems (nicely) commonplace these days.
Totally acceptable usage, thanks for asking
p.s. trust to see you at some point this week.
If you do, trust but verify.
