Hop Angel Brauhaus is open.

I could have sworn I gave you guys your first glimpse of the then-in-development Hop Angel Brauhaus logo a while back, but I can’t find it on the site. No matter, though, because now I have the real thing for you.

The soft opening is done. The place officially opened for business yesterday for dinner (lunch will come in due time). And their website is full of information, including an up-to-date beer list and complete food lineup.

No events listed on the calendar as yet, but Rich Pawlak is reporting that an Oktoberfest celebration is on deck for October 2.

Went here last Thursday night for dinner. The pork shank was indescribable! Scoats has done a fantastic job with the place as well!

Have eaten there twice this week. First the beer. Good mixture of both German and US versions of German style beers. Had the Kostrizer, the Duck Rabbit Schwartz Bier and the Manayunk Alt. All served in appropriate glassware.

Food. First night had the head cheese, the country pate and the house salad. Head Cheese is house made. I thought it was a bit underspiced, but overall was good. Country pate went well with rye bread and a little mustard. House salad is simple greens dressed with oil and lemon.

Second night had the Wiener Schnitzel with spaetzel and green beans. Wiener Schnitzel was well breaded, not greasy and very good. Spaetzel were sauteed in butter and a bit crunch on the outside. Green beans were bright green and still had a little snap to them. All the schnitzel needed was a lemon wedge and it was perfect.

Scoats Pat and Matt are doing great stuff here, and can’t wait to try more.
