Weep for San Francisco.

This is sad. I guess most of the places mentioned in this story were not exactly bastions of good beer, but that’s not the issue. Classic old watering holes are an integral part of our culture, especially in our cities, and to see them fading away is depressing.

  1. Sad story and common here in Bellingham as well. The Seattle P-I did a story a couple years ago quite similar in which the beer joints were being financially pushed into buying full liquor licenses and changing the way they did business. Some of those were requirements for a certain percentage of money coming in being for eats rather than drink, etc. Sad to see a way of life and custom go. But the good point is that as long as there are drinkers that will gather together somewhere, there will be new places to take the place of the old ones in our memories.
