I learned from Jay Brooks that the latest Wikio Top Beer Blogs listings has been posted and so wandered over there to see my place in the big scheme of things.
Liquid Diet had record figures for visitors and hits in March (up 15% and 25% respectively) and yet dropped down three positions from last time, my lowest position ever. That may seem counter-intuitive but it’s because the primary measurement in the rankings is what other sites link to your site and their importance based on what sites link to them. Or something like that.
I don’t think any of this stuff matters very much but, just in case, I think I’ll make these guys my default source to quote when I want to impress somebody. I’m sure I’ll want to do that sooner or later. Maybe.

I’ve learned from Wikio.com that, for the 19th consecutive month, they refuse to recognize me as a “beer blog” (whatever that is, btw). Either I haven’t paid my dues (figuratively or literally, I’m not quite sure), learned the secret knock, or it’s a sign that I really don’t get this social stuff. One of these days, I might take that to heart. Until then, I’ll keep on cuz that’s what I do….
Can we speak up for you? Cuz I would, you know.
Ha! I blame you for refusing to link to me. One link from an important blogger such as you would likely shoot me up into the top ten. Then again, Bryan does keep linking to me and maybe that’s dragging me down. It’s so confusing.
hm, never thought of it that way. If a “blogger” links to you and no one follows it (like the ol’ tree falling in the woods), does it count against you in the rankings? You might be on to something there.
I do link to you, you crazy old coot! Not a lot, admittedly, but more often than I link to anyone else, I believe. But you put so much of your good material up at the Beer Yard, and then you post on session beer, and everyone knows I don’t blog about that anymore…
Besides, you might note…I was out of the top ten for the past four months or so. I’d only drag you down. You need to get Jay to notice you.
Just kidding, Lew. Besides, one link a month is all that counts from any one site. The Beer Yard gets the good stuff because they pay for it (what a concept). Everybody should be helping me convince Matt to let me upgrade his site so I can use photos, video and like that over there.
