For your viewing pleasure.

Through the wonders of modern technology and the time and generosity of Steve Mashington, The Man With the Best Name in Brewing Ever(© Liquid Diet - the Blog, 2008 ), some blasts from the past in video form. Man, what will they think of next?

Actually, Steve just collected and sent me the links. All the videos are apparently from Rich Wagner and the Pennsylvania Beer Historians website and so he gets all the credit, not Steve. If there are any problems, though, Steve gets the blame. That’s how it works.

William Reed, the cool brewer at Sam Adams Brew House before he became the cool owner of The Standard Tap. You gotta love that white jumpsuit. Okay, maybe not.

Tom Kehoe explains dry-hopping at the old (second, not first) Yards Brewery, back in the day. Whoa! did he say Muslim?

Jon Bovit, original Yards partner, explains open fermenting as a small child tries to tear down the brewery around him. Give that lad a pint. Or a valium.

The Last Angry Brewer. I need say no more, I assume. A picture really is worth a thousand words.

Jim Cancro pouring from the tanks for a tour group at Red Bell Brewing. That doesn’t look like Cancro to me but that’s what the video ID says, and I do grow old and less reliable, so let’s go with it.

Bob Connor, explaining how Independence Brewing will some day rule the world because of its billboards. And how’d that work out?

I like this historical stuff that puts things into perspective. In fact, I’m offering a bounty right now for video of America’s Most Beloved Beer Writer (© Liquid Diet - the Blog, 2008 ) in his librarian days. Maybe doing some shelf arranging or Dewey Decimalizing, whatever you got. I’m easy.

  1. It was a pleasure to finally meet Rich Wagner myself yesterday at the Oktoberfest.

  2. I saw him outside before I went in but not once I was inside.

  3. Happily, the library world was done with me before the advent of cheap hand-held video equipment.

  4. Damn.

  5. How much are you paying Jack? I may have something in the archives…..

  6. Money is no object. Not likely either, but you owe it to world to share.
