The Phillies, beer and me.

You may have heard: The Phillies won the World Series.

Every 28 years, like clockwork, eh?

I had my Rochefort 10, as promised, to mark the moment…and got criticized for it. Some folks can’t even savor the moment without looking around for somebody to kick, it seems.

I celebrated with the Rochefort, quite simply, because it was the oldest and most treasured bottle in the house, set aside for a special occasion a long time ago. But it was not my only beer.

For the record, I started Wednesday evening going Old School, with bottles of the beer which was one of my fall back brews in 1980 when the Phillies last won, Yuengling Lord Chesterfield Ale, and Stegmaier Oktoberfest (which is excellent this year).

And I finished off the night with a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA.

I can’t make today’s parade, but I’ll be watching.  Feel free to wave.
