Utah, of all places.

U-freakin’-tah has at least one lawmaker who thinks–this is radical stuff–that at least some of the people who regulate alcohol might/should be people who actually understand and enjoy alcohol. I do not expect this to catch on, but it is a brief flickering light.

    Dominic Origlio suggested something similar about the PLCB during his testimony on the beer registration raids in 2010. He also noted that as the PLCB is the monopoly seller of wine and spirits, it essentially regulated its competition: beer wholesale/retail.

    The Utah idea is, of course, much more basic.
