A Rich treasure trove of Philly beer lore.

I finally got around to buying a copy of Rich Wagner’s Philadelphia Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in the Cradle of Liberty this week and spent the last hour or so reading through its closing section, “The Craft Beer Renaissance.”

I haven’t spent a more enjoyable or useful hour in some time.

Rich fills in lots of the gaps in terms of dates and relationships that I either never completely knew or of which I had an often vague understanding, making this relatively slim volume an immediate and invaluable addition to the small grouping of books which are my instant research resources before I start searching through the stacks and shelves of other volumes.

I can’t wait to read Philadelphia Beer in its entirety and I recommend it highly to anybody interested in the topic.
