Republic Brewing? Philly Beer Scene magazine? Both are on the way or I’m the victim of the greatest double-barreled April Fool’s joke ever.
Wow, things are really popping today. These are not April Fool jokes, folks.
There’s a new brewery opening in the ‘burbs next fall:
Republic Brewing Company as the new brewery will be called is to open by November of 2009. It will be located at the site of Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square. Ellis Preserve is a 210-acre master planned development located near the intersection of Route 252 (Newtown Road) and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in the heart of Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
BeerValley acquired all of their brewing equipment from the now defunct John Harvard’s Brewhouse in Springfield, PA. “The plan is to have our first brew out by Christmas”…
And a new beer magazine will arrive in June:
Philadelphia’s newest bi-monthly publication dedicated to beer in the city of brotherly love launches June 6, 2009!
Philly Beer Scene Magazine includes great feature articles, beer reviews, bar & restaurant reviews, event calendars, homebrew recipes, cooking with beer, and much more.
More details when I get ‘em; both links take you to where you can learn as much as I know at present.
I thought the John Harvards stuff was bought by another well known brewer?
You may be thinking of the Wayne John Harvard’s.
There’s no way I can believe big news on April 1st. I’ll believe it when I see it.
well if you go back to the beervalley website you will see they already said it was a april fools.
You’re no fun, Steve.
Seriously. I’m stunned that you’re the only one to comment on this.
The magazine story is true, however.
[...] Jack Curtin mentioned last week the arrival of Philly Beer Scene. I don’t have much more on it other than to confirm it’s real and they’ll be throwing a pre- and post-part at Manny Brown’s/Neshaminy Mall in conjunction with the screening of Beer Wars on April 16th. [...]
