Does Sam Adams have stake in this? I appreciate Sam Adams beers as much as anyone, but giving them over half the medals is absurd.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Last year was our first year holding an international beer competition. While craft beer was my first love we have been holding http://www.nyiwinecompetition.com and http://www.nyispiritscompetition.com the last few years.
Our philosophy for all of our competitions is that we judge the liquid in a blind tasting. All the judges are real trade buyers and they know the actual retail price. We believe this is the most realistic format as consumers and trade buyers do buy upon actual price. So is this lager worth $8.99 a 6 pack or the IPA is worth $14.99 in a 750ml?
On a separate note. Samuel Adams did very well in our last competition. To be honest they submitted the most and had the overall strongest showing. We do hope more breweries will participate in the next competition in 2013. We are an independent solely owned company. We purposely have no equity or ownership in any liquor stores, restaurants, breweries, wineries, distilleries, distribution or import company in the United States or anywhere in the world.
