Brotherly Suds and other PBW information, because this is a full-service blog, except when it’s not.

Seemed to me we usually have the skinny on which brewers and brewery will be responsible for the official* Philly Beer Week beer by now, so I asked the invaluable Jennie Hatton to fill me in and she did. It’s nice when a plan works out.

The beer will be brewed at Yards this year. Date to be announced. It will be an English Summer aale with a zesty citrus hop. The brewers will be Bill Covaleski (Victory), Gordon Grubb (Nodding Head), Mark Edelson (Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant), Gene Muller (Flying Fish) and Tom Kehoe of Yards along with the past cast of Brian O’Reilly (Sly Fox), John Trogner (Troegs) and Brett Kintzer (Stoudts) there to “contribute to eating donuts and keeping the new brewers group honest,” says Kehoe.

And because PR folks never let a chance slip by to get their stories told, she added this:

As always, Brotherly Suds will be available at Opening Tap – tickets are still available – it sold out last year so people shouldn’t wait. Opening Tap page and more information –

Also, PBW just released the updated apps for 2013. Once again, PBW teamed up with Xomo Digital, Inc. to build an all-new app for this year’s celebration. New features include: new Layout and Graphics; Event Listings searchable by brewery and participating breweries listed for each event; Improved Favorites; and iPhone 5 compatibility. Apps are available for both iPhone and Android – people can go here: PBW Mobile Site –
